Following the successful receiver tests yesterday, I continued today with the band pass filters completing the receiver chain. I decided to build for 60/40/30/20 meters, which can provide a good all round, day and night transceiver.
Here are few photos of the completed receiver and in particular the band pass filters.
It is now very convenient to able to use the BNC connector as antenna input instead of the wire mockup I had to use last night. I also noticed lower noise floor, which could be due to the band pass filters and/or the isolation of the antenna using a transformer. Of course, it could also just be the band being quieter.
The first thing I listened to after completing the receiver was Radio DARC on 6070 kHz.
I am very pleased with the receiver performance. Aside from the noise around DC I did not notice much noise within the ham bands.
Here is the same frequency range captured using the Cloud-IQ.
