I have done good progress in the devlopment of the new tracking code. Actually, I have decided to use T. S. Kelso’s tracking routines from celestrak, which have been converted from fortan77 to C by Neoklis Kyriazis.
Don, VE3HUR, has released a new issue of his Icom IC-765 Notes. It is a very good document gathering much of the information and modifications for the IC-765.
It is now time to get started on the Gtk+ 2 port of gpredict. Boy, it will be a lot of work because I will have to rewrite most of the program. Even the non-gui parts will be heavily modified. For example the tracking engine will be rewritten to use the more accurate SGP4 and SDP4 algorithms.
So, the christmas holidays are almost over and I have to go back to Les Mureaux tomorrow
I put up the DX-88 together to have a good test run with my new IC-765. I did not bother too much in adjusting the parameters; they were quite good last time. Consequently, the SWR is far from impressive on most bands. It even seems to oscillate on some bands, eg. 30 meters. Hmm…
It’s finally christmas! No snow or anything like that in DK, but I am finally united with my IC-765 and so I am very happy.
Today, OZ9SJ posted an IC-765 for sale on brugtgrej.dk, a site for trading second hand equipment for hams. The price is rather high, approximately 1100 euros, but the radio did only have one owner and is claimed to be in mint condition, both from a functional and cosmetical point of view. It even comes with 19″ rack mounts.
Today I finished section 4 containing the VFO mixer and frequency counter read out. This is also where the ready built DDS comes into the picture.
Just finishedsections 1, 2, and 3 of the build process and so far everything has checked out well!
Today I’ll start building the Sparrow. The kit arrived by mail some 7 days after I ordered and payed for it, so I am quite satisfied with my shopping at QRP Shop so far.
